Privacy Policy

Storycard ("we", "us", "the app") is operated by Tijana Hag, based in Switzerland. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, how it is used, and the choices you have. We built Storycard to be private by design: your family's journal lives on your device, we do not sell data, and we show no ads.

1. Information we handle
Information you provide
- Child profiles you create: a first name (or nickname), age band, and a chosen colour. You control what you enter; you do not need to use real names.
- Journal content: the answers, custom questions, Time Capsule messages, and Story Threads you and your family create.
- Account email: only if you choose to create an account to back up or sync your journal across devices. Storycard works fully without an account.
Information handled automatically
- Purchase status: whether you have an active Storycard Pro subscription or lifetime purchase (handled through Apple and RevenueCat; we never see your card details).
- Basic technical data needed to run the app (e.g., app language, on-device settings).
We do not collect advertising identifiers, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell or rent your information.
2. How we use information
- To provide the app's core features, showing questions and saving your journal on your device.
- To translate card content into your chosen language (see Section 3).
- To generate Story Threads from conversations you choose (see Section 3).
- To sync and restore your journal only if you create an account.
- To manage your subscription and unlock Storycard Pro features.
- To send you optional local reminders you have enabled (these are scheduled on your device).
3. AI features and our AI provider (Anthropic)
Storycard uses Anthropic's Claude AI to power two optional features:
- Card translation: translating question cards into your selected language.
- Story Threads: weaving conversations you select into a shareable narrative.
When you use these features, only the text needed for that feature (for example, a card's text, or the answers within a Story Thread you generate) is sent securely to Anthropic for processing and returned to your device. This transfer only happens when you use these AI features. Everything else in your journal stays on your device and is never sent to the AI provider.
We present a notice naming Anthropic and ask for your consent during onboarding before these features are used. Anthropic processes this text to provide the result and in accordance with its own terms; Anthropic does not use your content to train its models via this integration. 4. Third-party services
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run the app:

These providers only receive the minimum data needed for their function.
5. Where your data is stored
- On your device: Your journal, child profiles, and answers are stored locally on your device by default.
- In the cloud (only if you sign in): If you create an account, your journal is backed up via Supabase so you can sync or restore it. Servers may be located outside Switzerland; where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards.
6. Children's privacy
Storycard is designed to be set up and operated by a parent or guardian. Any information about a child (such as a nickname or age band) is entered by the adult account holder and is stored primarily on the device. Storycard is not directed at children for independent sign-up, does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children, and shows no advertising. Parents control all content and can delete it at any time (see Section 7).
7. Your choices and rights
- Access and edit: You can view and edit your child profiles and journal entries directly in the app.
- Delete your account and data: In Settings → Delete Account, you can permanently delete all your children, journal entries, and associated data from the device and from our backend. This action cannot be undone.
- Notifications: You can turn reminders on or off at any time in Settings.
- Rights: Depending on where you live (e.g., under Swiss FADP or the EU GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data. Contact us at storycard@proton.me to exercise them.
8. Data security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections for any data sent to our providers. Sensitive keys used for AI and backend processing are held server-side and are never embedded in the app. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
9. Data retention
Local data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. If you use an account, backed-up data is retained until you delete your account, after which it is removed from our backend.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective date" above and, where appropriate, through an in-app notice.
